Content notes (Contains spoilers)
- A child's medical emergency. On the first night, seven-year-old Owen's appendix bursts, and he has emergency surgery. He recovers fully.
- Emotional neglect in a marriage. A husband who is not there when it matters most, and a wife who stopped asking him to be.
- Two steamy scenes between the husband and the wife, late in the book. Consensual, not graphic, and set apart, so you can skip them.
- Some swearing, not much of it, and never in front of the child.
- No cheating. He never sleeps with the other woman, on the page or off it.
- A happy ending. He earns it.
